A By-Passed Village In Kent - Soon after it reaches the high ground on wrotham Hill, the main London to Maidstone Road now turns east and avoids the steep descent into Wrotham. Thus the ancient village, which nestles snugly below the Nort Downs, is undisturbed by the endless flow of traffic, is undisturbed by the endless flow of traffic which passes so close to it. The remains of a residence of the Archbishops of Canterbury in former days are near the stately parish church, which is seen in this picture, taken by a staff Photographer of The Times. January 9, 1934.
