A parish beadle, with fat cheeks and critical eye, is about to admonish a poor homeless woman except a kindly, well-dressed lady and her little girl intervene. A typically moralistic and sentimental Victorian scene. Engraving taken from an original by Miss Soloman which formed part of the collection of Mr Flatou, on exhibition in the City Gallery in London in April 1859. Date: 1859
