Pageant Pays Tribute To Child She Saved The Town In 1651 -- A child, depicting Lore, imploring the Swedish colonel to save the besieged city of Dinkelsbuhl. A costumed pageant to mark the saving of this city by the children during the thirty years was held at Dinkelsbuhl.Every year since 1651, in keeping with a pledge, the walled city in the north Bavarian American zone pays tribute to the child, lore, who, leading a procession of children, went to the gates of the city, besieged by Colonel Spereuth, leading the Swedish conquerors. The child's plea to spare the town was accepted and the city survived. July 15, 1951.
