Osiris figure ca. 990-970 B.C. Third Intermediate Period This crudely carved figure of Osiris was used as a container for Henettawy's Book of the Dead papyrus (25.3.29). Made of roughgrained sycomore wood, the figure was painted black, with the pedestal on which it was set left the natural color of the wood.
