Ruth Ellis was hanged at Holloway Prison today for the murder of her 25-year-old lover, David Blakely. Hundreds of people waited outside the prison. Three mounted police and fifteen foot police with arms linked guarded the entrance to the prison while other police lined Parkhurst-road to keep back the hushed crowds. July 13, 1955.
