Nissen huts occupied by wounded soldiers from the front. The huts were designed by a Canadian officer, inspired by the dwellings of former day Indian towns around Lake Ontario. The huts were first used as barracks for Canadian battalions, as they could be easily put up and transported. Date: 1917
