New World's Railway Speed Record -- A French electric train yesterday reached a speed of 200mph beating the previous world records of 150 mph set up in French last year. The locomotive was the ***** G.7107 (herewith) weighing 107 tons, with a drive of 4,470 h.p. The new speed was made in the Landes, where there is a straight track of about 30 miles, and it is possible that another new loco may event beat this record by as much as 12 miles during tests in a day or two.
