New Royal Racing Yacht Nears Completion -- Workmen preparing the Bluebottle for her trials, in the shipbuilding yards at Gosport. A new royal racing yacht of the Dragon class, a wedding present to Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh from the Island Sailing Club (Isle of Wight) is nearing completion at the yards at Gosport, Hants, where she is being built. The yacht, which is over 29 feet long, has been named Bluebottle, and will be seen in the Solent this week for sail stretching. It is hoped that the vessel will be presented formally to their Royal Highnesses at Cowes. June 29, 1948. (Photo by Fox).
