New Experimental Dress For British Firemen -- The new type uniform (centre) compared with the pre-war (left) with brass helmet, and the war-time type with steel helmet on right. Tests are now being carried out with a new type of operational dress for British firemen. The new style, made similar to an airman's suit, is of waterproof material, with one zip fastener, allowing for speedy dressing and doing away with buttons. A new non-metal type of helmet is also being used, thus cutting down the risks from electrocution. March 02, 1948. (Photo by Sport & General Press Agency, Limited).
