Navy Begins Again Squalus Salvage - A scene shortly after the ill-fated submarine Sqaulus shot to the surface with the bodies of 26 of her crew and then fell 245 feet to the ocean floor, ripping away lines and cables and virtually undoing fifty-two days of salvage work. The men in the small boats and on the pontoon are shown setting about the work of starting the salvage again. Three of the four pontoons were carried to the bottom, but it is hoped that they could be used in the second salvage attempt. July 14, 1939. (Photo by ACME).
