Mounties Shoot Canadian Foot-And-Mouth Cattle -- Men of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police photographed picking off some of the cattle with rifles, in their burial pits in the Regina area.A disastrous outbreak of foot and mouth disease has hit the Regina, Saskatchenan area of Western Canada. Hundreds of cattle are being slaughtered daily, shot by 'Mounties', and buried in slaked lime pits. It is believed that the disease was brought to Canada by a German immigrant. March 6, 1952.
