The "Met" Service Puts To Sea -- A stern-on view of the new "Weather Ship" seen at the London Docks this morning, and showing the balloon station set on the aft of the vessel.The first of the new Air Ministry Ocean "Weather Ships" to be completed is now at the London Docks, ready to put to sea to take up station in the Atlantic. Altogether 13 stations are planned to be set up in the North Atlantic from which meteorological observations of surface and upper air conditions can be made at regular intervals. July 31, 1947.
