U.S. Marines assigned to Echo Company, Battalion Landing Team 2/6, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, and Italian marines from the San Marco Marine Brigade, move a casualty to safety during tactical recovery of aircraft and personnel training in Grottaglie, Italy, July 21, 2022. The training highlighted the exchanging of ideas and practices between the two NATO nations and further developed their interoperability. The Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group and 22nd MEU, under the command and control of Task Force 61/2, is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. Naval Forces Europe area of operations, employed by U.S. Sixth Fleet to defend U.S., allied and partner interests.
