This man, looking over the ancient City of Hull has a new pride in his home town. The success of his team has done this for him. No longer does he feel that Hull is a little place near Grimsby. It is Hull City where football records are made. Throughout England more than 1,000,000 people cram themselves into 44 ground every Saturday during the football season to supports their local teams. More than 6,500,000 fill in their weekly football coupons, and prizes as high as £50,000 are paid out as prizes in the penny points pools. The effect of the success of local team can be gauged by the record victories of Hull city Football Club, who won their first nine matches this season, there by breaking a record held by two other teams since 1903. Hull's population of 300,000 have a new civic pride which grew with the team's success, and production in its 500 industries has risen perceptibly. March 15, 1960.
