Forewoman Mrs. Ivy ***** operates a hand ***** winder which has been in use for over 100 years as she helps in the manufacture of the sating which will line the Queen's Coronation Robe. In the background may be seen 17-year-old weaver Miss Gwen Curtis, also engaged in making the satin, at the firm of Stephen Walters here. Twenty-one yards of this material will be needed for the lining of the Queen's Robe, but the firm is making about 60 yards in 'case of accidents'. December 3, 1952.
