The last stand of a lone Italian fascist is illustrated by these picture which were snapped by a Canadian photographer in Rome. The first picture shows start of the battle as the fascist began shooting from the window of an apartment house. The second shows allied soldiers watched by Italian civilians, unmindful of danger, firing at the sniper. Eventually they winged him and he surrendered. July 24, 1944.
