Evangheli, President of the Albanian Parliament, in the one-storey Royal Palace in Tirana, King Zog of the Albanians was married to the 22-year-old Countess Geraldine Apponyi, member of an Ancient Hungarian family and known for her beauty as the "White Rose of Hungary".The Countess becomes the first Queen of the Albanians. Her mother was an American, Gladys Virginia Stewart, of New York. Count Ciano, Italian Foreign Minister was a witness at the ceremony. April 28, 1938.
