The King Is Dead -- When very young. Queen Mary (Then Duchess Of York) with the Duke Of Windsor (Then Prince Edward) and the late king (Then Prince Albert). His Majesty King George VI died in his sleep early this morning. He was 56. This was announced from Sandringham at 10-45 A.M to-day. When the King retired last night he appeared to be in his normal health. He had been out yesterday morning and afternoon. The Queen and Princess Margaret are at Sandringham at this moment. Princess Elizabeth (Now Queen Of England) is at the shooting lodge at Nyeri. The new Queen is the first English Sovereign to have acceded the throne while in Africa. February 06,1952.
