KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. -- External tank No. 117 makes the turn from the parking area at NASA's Vehicle Assembly Building. It is heading for the barge waiting at the Turn Basin in the Launch Complex 39 Area. The tank is being shipped to NASAs Michoud Assembly Facility in Louisiana for modifications. The barge will be moved to Port Canaveral where one of NASAs solid rocket booster retrieval ships will take it and tow it around the Florida peninsula to Michoud.
