Jug 1775 John Crolius This jug was probably made by John Crolius, whose family worked in New York City in an area known as Pot Bakers Hill, just north of what is now City Hall Park. He and his brother, William, were among the areas first potters. Their father had emigrated from Germany and founded a pottery, which the family ran until the mid-nineteenth century.
