Jean-Joseph Fiegenschuh (1869 - 1910) French officer and explorer. making his career in the French Foreign Legion, he was promoted to lieutenant in 1897 and captain in 1903. He stayed in Indochina from 1896 to 1898, then to Madagascar from 1899 to 1906. He was killed with most of his men, 4 January 1910, falling in an ambush in Bir Taouil during an armed reconnaissance in Masalit territory (in the current Darfur).
