Three lenses look out through an hour-glass-shaped opening in the front of the Cinerama camera. Each lens covers, about one-third of the camera's 145-degree angles of "vision". A single shutter rotates in front of the lenses at the point where their lines of view cross. A sound-absorbing box, en-casting the camera, muffles the noise of the mechanism. March 17, 1953. The original caption also states that 'moments about three different axes are measured by means of the aero-dynamic balance located behind the metal plates seen on the extreme right and left of this picture'.
