India: A statue of King Edward VII (1841 - 1910), Prince of Wales, in Veermata Jijabai Bhonsale Udyan (Byculla Zoo), Mumbai. The statue was originally placed in a prominent location in the Fort area of Mumbai (then Bombay), opposite the exclusive Watson Hotel; and as the statue was such an iconic landmark, locals soon called the area Kala Ghoda (Black Horse). After India's independence the statue was unceremoniously removed and shifted to an inglorious position at the zoo. Yet the name of the area, Kala Ghoda, and the memory of the monument still remained. In 2017, a new monument was erected in the old spot - but this time only a black horse without its royal rider.
