Early morning when the fishing trawlers return to base, small- and big-time traders gather to claim their share of the day's catch. The fishermen are usually Muslims and communicate in Beary or Byari language, a mix of Malayalam and Tulu (the latter spoken in the Mangalore and Udipi area).
