Illustration showing Marshal Francois Bazaine's Army marching out as prisoners of war at the surrender of Metz during the Franco-Prussian War. After a siege of 70 days Bazaine's French forces surrendered to the Prussian Army. It was felt that Bazaine had not resisted enough during the siege and was later imprisoned for treason. Date: 1870
