Hyannis, Massachusetts: May 23, 1962 Mrs. Lela Mae Williams of Huttig, Arkansas, arrives in Hyannis with seven of her nine children hoping to find work. She was given one way bus tickets for her family and sent there as a "Reverse Freedom Rider" by the Little Rock segregationist citizens council. Nearly fifty travelers, most of them single mothers, were given tickets to Hyannis in an attempt to embarass President Kennedy for his suppport of the civil rights movement.
