Housewives Ignor Steel - Protest About Meat - Steel and a motion of censure were before the House of Commons, but these Teddington (Middlesex) housewives travelled down by motor-coach to present petitions against 'The meat position'. Decorating their coach were a dummy representing the plump pre-war housewife and a skull with the post-war meat ration (what the housewives forget - the home was due to debate Meat to-marrow). Britain: "In no country do dissenting voices find a platform so easily." Above, protesting housewives. February 7, 1951. (Photo by Reuterphoto).
