Hoa Phong Tower is the last remaining relic of Bao An pagoda, which was a famous Buddhist site in the 19th century in Hanoi. The pagoda was built in 1846 with four dates in the style of an Indian stupa under the command of Nguyen Dang Giai. The pagoda was destroyed in 1898 to broaden the street and only the tower was left standing. Today the tower stands opposite the main post office on the bank of Hoan Kiem Lake.
