Henry Mayo Bateman at work in his studio. Bateman (1887-1970) was a popular artist and regularly contributed to The Sketch, The Tatler and The Bystander. His efficient, bold style depicting social faux-pas was ground breaking for its time and his work is a brilliant reflection of the period. It was his 'The Man Who...' series in The Tatler which made his name, with readers able to order limited edition prints of each published illustration. Date: January 14th 1932
