Hartnell Cap of States Is Coronation Alternative For Peeresses -- Sketch of the approved Norman Hartnell design for a Cap of State for Peeresses below the degree of Countess, who may wear it as an alternative to a coronet. The London Gasette to-night (Tuesday) states Viscountesses and Baronesses who are not in possession of Coronets may wear as an alternative a crimson velvet cap enriched with narrow gold braid and bordered with a narrow strip of white fur. The cap should be made to fit the crown of the head and should have a gold or gold coloured tassel or other similar decoration which may consist of a knot of gold braid ending in drop pearls.
