Handle from Red-Figure Kylix (Drinking Cup), c. 480 BC. Greece, Athens, 5th Century BC. Ceramic; diameter: 29.6 cm (11 5/8 in.). Although very similar to the ancient handle tip that it was used to replace, the drill holes in this fragment suggest that it was attached in modern times (before 1915). It was removed during an extensive conservation treatment in 1990.
