Greenland Cosmic Ray Scientific Expedition by the U.S. Office Of Naval Research -- During the summer months of August and September 1952, the U.S. Office of naval ray investigations in the vicinity of the geemagnetic pole in Northern Greenland. These measurement were made with scientific instruments and instrumented rockets carried to high altitudes by large constant level plastic balloons (Skyhooks) launched Prem the deck of the Ice breaker U.S.C.G.C. Eastwind while cruising in Baffin Bay. The Purpose of these experiments was to measure the charge and energy spectrum of the primary cosmic radiation, and the interactions of this primary radiation with the earth's atmosphere at high altitudes.
