German prisoners of war in Britain, post-World War Two, in the canteen where they may spend the token money they have earned. They are paid at the rate of 1 1/2 pence an hour. The ILN writes that the prisoners have only one real complaint - uncertainty, and that at the time of writing the British Government had not yet announced its future plans even though hostilities ceased over a year before.
