A German air attack on a British squadron in the North Sea, 150 miles off the coast of Norway, in the early stages of the Second World War. German propaganda claimed there had been British losses, but Admiral Sir Charles Forbes described it as an 'episode' during which no British ship was touched. Date: 27 September 1939
