Georges Benjamin Clemenceau (1841-1929), The French Premier who led his country to the final victory in the First World War. Clemenceau served as the Prime Minister of France from 1906-1920 and again from 1917-1920. He was one of the principal architects of the Treaty of Versailles at the Paris Peace Conference of 1919. He took a very harsh position against defeated Germany and won agreement on Germanys payment of large sums for reparations.
