Fort Sesfontein is one of the last place visitors to northwest Namibia can stay before traveling to remote northwest Namibia. The fort was built by the Germans in 1905 to control cattle disease, poaching and arms smuggling. It was abandoned at the outbreak of World War I until rebuilt in 1987 and turned into a comfortable hotel.
