Former Waffen S.S. General is Released from Prison - Greeting his son at Central Station here after his release from Landsberg Prison is former General of the Waffen S.S. and Concentration Camp Administrator in Germany Oswald Pohl (left). Pohl was imprisoned for five years for crimes against humanity. Tried at Nuremburg, he was first sentenced to death, but this was later commuted to five years imprisonment. Good conduct earned him a remission. Pohl's wife died while he was serving his prison sentence. December 27, 1949.
