First of The Superforts Touch Down. B29's For Britain. One of the B29 Superforts comes in to land at the air base here. The planes and crews were welcomed by British Secretary of State crews were welcomed by British Secretary of State for Air. Mr. Arthur Henderson. The first four 3,000-mile-range B29 Superforts to be given to Britain under the United States military aid programme, landed here after flying from Andrews Field, Maryland. Bearing Royal Air Force markings, they were flown by American airmen, and form the vanguard of a fleet of 70 being delivered to Britain. March 22, 1950.
