First Jet Air Liner Breaks Record -- The Vickers Viking about to take off for the record-breaking flight at London Airport today.The world's first jet-powered airliner, a Vickers Viking, yesterday flew from London to Paris in 34 minutes 7 seconds, a record. Against a stiff-head-wind, the Viking returned to London Airport in 36½ minutes. The machine made the world's first international passenger jet flight. It was piloted by 44-year-old Captain J. Summers, chief test pilot of Vickers-Armstrong Ltd. who piloted the first Spitfire ever built.
