On the far bank, Saint Helen's Wharf is a noted beauty spot on the River Thames, just upstream of the medieval bridge at Abingdon-on-Thames; and the noted Saxon-era Saint Helens Church, which dominates this view, has been at this location at the confluence of the Thames and Ock rivers since the year 995.
