Everybody Can Wear His Own Autogyro, Take Off In Street -- Paul Baumgartl wearing the 'Heliofly'. The 'Heliofly', a device which, strapped to the body, enables the wearer to take off in the street, climb to an altitude of 3,000 feet and fly Baumgartl, a 28-year-old Viennese technician, after three years' experiment and trial. The apparatus consists of an air screw resembling an autogyro's, and a motor; total weight does not exceed 30 pounds. Baugartl says he is going to start mass production of the 'Heliofly' as soon as the Allied occupation authorities permit powered aviation in Australia. October 24, 1946.
