221116-N-EV253-2324 SAN DIEGO (Nov. 16, 2022) - The crew of an MH-60S Seahawk helicopter assigned to the Merlins of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 3, practices hoisting drills during a dynamic proof of concept course at Naval Outlying Landing Field in Imperial Beach, Calif., Nov. 16. The course, which was overseen by HSC-3s Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Search and Rescue Model Manager (SARMM), was led by representatives from Air Rescue Systems (ARS), and was designed to teach Navy pilots and aircrewmen the physics behind helicopter hoisting, and new techniques in order to conduct safe and efficient dynamic hoisting evolutions. Other participants of the course included: Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center (NAWDC), Helicopter Sea Combat Weapons School Pacific, Helicopter Sea Combat Weapons School Atlantic, Lemoore Station SAR and Whidbey Island Station SAR.
