Whiting won the race by 11 seconds, in a little over 1 hour and 41 minutes, to claim a 20 prize Silver Cup. Both cyclists were riding 'Penny Farthing' or 'Ordinary' bicycles, which were most popular between 1871 and 1885. Date: 1875
