Engraving showing HMS 'Eurydice' in Portsmouth Harbour, shortly before her last voyage, 1878. Launched in 1843 as a 21-gun frigate, by 1878 'Eurydice' was being used as a training ship. On the 22nd March that year, she was struck by a wintery squall off the Isle of Wight and sank with the loss of 326 men. Date: 1878
