Engraving of a race held by the Surrey Bicycle Club at the Oval, Kennington, London, September 1888. As can be easily seen, the race was held using 'Penny Farthing' bicycles. These were the most popular bicycles until the mid 1890's when use of the modern, 'safety' bicycles became widespread. Date: 1888
