Engraving of HMS 'Enterprise' ice-bound in Camden Bay, during the winter of 1852. Commanded by Captain Richard Collinson, the 'Enterprise' was sent in 1850 to search the Northwest passage for any survivors of the 1845 Sir John Franklin expedition. The expedition returned home to Britain in 1855, having successfully proved the existence of the Northwest passage, but having found little trace of Franklin. Date: 1855
