Former Synagogue in the Wörlitz Castle Garden, Saxony-Anhalt 1789/1790 The synagogue was built on the edge of the castle garden of Wörlitz. In 1910, the Jewish community dissolved due to too few parishioners. The synagogue was robbed of its religious function and equipment in 1937. Nevertheless, two SA men tried to set the synagogue on fire during the 1938 November pogroms. The building was saved by the decisive actions of the then garden director Hans Hallervorden grandfather of the actor Didi Hallervorden.
