A Dramatic Picture Of Germans Crossing The Don. Just Received In London -- First picture of German crossing of the don. A hastily improvised bridge built by the Germans over the Don, has been blown to bits by the Russians. Tanks, lorries, corpses of men and animals, all have gone down into the water. But the river is shallow here. Filled with ruins of the bridge it still enables the following wave of Nazi soldiers to advance across the semi immersed or floating structure. August 4, 1942.
