Discovery of Hoard of Nazi-Looted Books -- A British soldier standing guard at the entrance to the Monastery.What is believed to be one of the largest assemblies of Nazi loot brought to light a vast collection of books, many of then of considerable value - has been found in the former Benedictine Monastery at Tazenburg, near Klagenfurt. The Germans ejected the monks from the building some 3 years ago. The books, stored in over 3,000 crates and otalling some million works, were housed mainly in the Church of Saint Josef of Tazenburg, Which stands on a height overlooking the Glen Valley. Among the libraries represented are the Rothschild collection at Ferrieres. The Stuz Library in Paris, and the Car's Library at Kiev, as well as private collection from Holland, Belgium and Czechoslovakia. September 10, 1945. (Photo by British Official Photograph)
