It is also called pulp chamber, coronary pulp or cameral pulp for the central part of the crown. The central part in the root is called the root pulp. Here we are in stage 3 of the tooth being affected by dental caries. the pulp contains the vessels and nerves of the tooth and gives it its vitality and sensitivity. This is why when it is affected by caries it triggers a toothache.
